Social Distancing day #45 ... looks like this. I am now talking to Duke like he can completely understand me and we have a 2 way conversation. Working from bed is my new go to productivity tool and the thought of no school for the unforeseeable is giving me an internal panic attack. Worse thing is my hypochondriac tendencies has taken it up to a new level now that I have to stay away from the hospital. It’s amazing how all that stress can lead to my elevated blood sugar even though I am still wearing my continuous glucose sensor and insulin pump. I finally got the clearance to go through @tandemdiabetes hybrid loop system with @dexcom integrated today. Message me below if you want to be added to a private chat where you can watch me how I get it up and running and can ask me any questions. Or just make fun of me. Diabetes is no fun if your not laughing.
Yep this has been me all week... and no I don’t have the Coronavirus. I am suffering from female hormones and migraines. Super frustrating because none of my natural and “not natural” things are working. The only thing that does give me any relief is if I just live in my @sunlightensaunas . Which is not the worse thing. On a more exciting note my new @dexcom continuous glucose sensor arrives today. I took a break from my insulin pump and sensor for a while. I have been on pump therapy since I was 15 and then a CGM for the last 5 years and I just wanted some time to not be attached to anything and let my skin have a break. However I cannot wait for my @tandemdiabetes (insulin pump ) upgrade with its closed loop system. For you non pump people out there what it does is help predict your highs and lows and treats your blood sugar accordingly. After doing it all with shots the last few months I am excited again for the first time in a long time about having a pump!!
As a micromanaging mom it’s hard to not go out and chase, over do it, stress and obsess. But all these things stop yourself from allowing the universe to bring to you all your manifesting. 😖 My goal for 2020 is to not spend sooo much time worrying fussing and over thinking. This last week I have made some poor decisions…. Growing up as a Type 1 diabetic, I have always had a lot of issues around food. I don’t just mean with how I digest and metabolize food, but also in my mindset around what foods I can and can’t eat. I used to get really frustrated when my body felt tired or my brain felt foggy, but then I found a way to counteract some of my symptoms: following an anti-inflammatory diet. This anti inflammatory diet has also been a life saver for my lupus Andy migraines! However recently I became 30lbs under weight… So I thought the fastest/ easiest/ cheapest way to not be 30lbs under weight was to go on an “inclusion” diet. Where you eat pizza and hamburgers and cake. I really think I also wanted a break and to feel normal and eat a lot of junk food guilt free…. This did not work out how you would think. I haven’t gained any weight. The only thing I have gained is now a 3 day migraine and just over all pain… Yesterday I decided I was going to go back on my healthy plant based diet and all I could dream about was cake and bacon… Today I have a slightly less bad migraine so I am gonna take things step by step. Does anyone else starting up their anti-inflammatory diet for the first time or 15th time start dreaming of weird foods?
Like Duke I hate waking up…. Morning routines have become all the rage, but does it actually help your productivity to start with a routine? I have found that cultivating a consistent flow of wake-up activities and steps helps my brain know it’s time to start the day. I’ve made dozens of changes to my morning routine over the years, but there are a few steps that always seem to stick. A few years ago, I decided to simplify my morning routine by keeping only the things that helped me start the day from a calm and refreshed state of being. The most Important thing to remember is don’t rush it! What are your struggles with waking up?
When I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age 5 a nurse 👩⚕️ told me it "was just a matter of time before I lost my 🦶. So I should check my blood sugar as much as possible so I could keep my 🦶 for as long as possible 😳. So needless to say I have a deep paranoia over my 🦶. So anything to improve the circulation of my feet is definitely #1 on my list of to dos. Infrared saunas have a lot of benefits but the number one thing that got my attention was improved circulation for type 1 diabetes. Yesterday was just my first day with my sauna in my house and I can’t wait to share more of the long term benefits. So far Duke is loving the results.
So my mammogram showed I just have some giant lymph nodes so crises adverted! Thank you everyone who left comments sent me messages and called. I normally don’t like sharing thinks like this about my health but I am so glad I did and so thankful for the support. I did make a rather lager investment in my health I will be sharing with you guys in the weeks to come I can’t wait! I have been shopping for one of these for a few years now and finally pulled the bullet or credit card in this case. So while I wait for it to come I am going to be decluttering my house so I have more room. Grants room is first on the list! 📸 by @oohlaluxe from Christina. She is such a amazing friend. Lol I would not want to take photos of a control freak Photographer 🤣😂🤣😂 #clairesgettinghealthy
#ootd A few weeks ago when they did an mri on my shoulder they found what they think is a mass on my Brest area. Now I am 90% sure that it’s a swollen lymph node because I have the same swellings on both sides and that’s what life is like with lupus. but it’s better to be safe then sorry and here we are. So at 37 most my friends are just starting to have their beautiful little babies and posting them on Instagram😍. I however 😬have a teenager. Struggle is an understatement. He won’t let me take his photo. 🤬have been on menopause meds since July. 🎉am the first of my friends to get a mammogram. I am just ahead of my time. At least I get to take the AM off work guilt free. 🎉🎊
Starting your Monday here would sure make Monday’s better!⠀ ⠀ I have been obsessed lately with house plants and figuring out which ones are going to be the best for me (because I am not the most responsible plant owner ).⠀ ⠀ When I was doing all my research I found tons of information on how plants can not only help your mental health but physical health and I am not just talking about improving air quality. ⠀ ⠀ Plants have also been proven to decrease pain levels. Read more on my blog post link in bio. ⠀ ⠀ This beautiful home is my friend Christina’s form @oohlaluxe . Plant styling courtesy of @leafandlolo ⠀ ⠀ ⠀
I was diagnosed with my first chronic illness at 5... My second at 14 and my third at 35. 🌡💉 When I was 5 and diagnosed with diabetes I didn’t know what was going on at the time but after knew I wasn’t the same as the “other kids”. 🙇🏻♀️I didn’t have as much energy the teachers all treated me like I was going to pass out all the time and the kids made it painfully clear I was the weird kid. When I was in second grade I was the only one in the class not invited to a birthday party because I had diabetes... This left me heart broken for years because it was only the first time something like this happened to me. However the worse thing I did was not talk about it. Not even to my friends at the time but over the years. I was soooo embarrassed about my diabetes because of this event that I worked extra hard so that no one would see me as weaker or different. Having a chronic illness is isolating enough but this made me feel even more isolated. Now the last few months I have been struggling with my thyroid off and on which has led to having some injuries. I didn’t know that having diabetes and a hypoactive thyroid would lead to physical injuries but there we have it lol. 🎉My 2020 resolution is not to loose weight or make more money. It’s not to be more organized. It’s to share and let go of this weight I have been carrying around. Let me know if you have been carrying around something similar so that people think you are “normal” or whatever that means 🤣😂
Finally feeling better this week and now Grant is sick with the flue. Starting to wonder what it’s like when you can leave the house? 🙊 Getting a lot of work done though on my website and catching up blogging. It feels so good to be able to work again and think clearly. Goodbye lupus fog!
I am a terrible sleeper... ⠀ ⠀ I wake up every hr - two hrs tossing and turning. Then I stare a lot at my ceiling waiting to fall back asleep.😣⠀ ⠀ It’s taken me forever to find a natural remedy for this!⠀(still need my coffee in the am though ) ⠀ If you have a hard time easing yourself into sleep each night, essential oils could help. Lavender essential oils are typically known for helping with sleep, but you can also get aromatherapy essential oils to help you feel relaxed. ⠀ ⠀ An essential oil diffuser is a total must! All I have to do is put a couple essential oil drops into my diffuser at night and I’m ready for bed. ⠀ ⠀ My favorite to start with are #lavender #eucalyptus & #pepermint .⠀ ⠀ What are yours?⠀ #healthbyclaire
This is how I started my week... For those of you who don’t know I tore some tendons in my shoulder over the holidays and have had to take it easy. Now they are worried about my other arm because it’s also in a lot of pain. 😣 So much time at the dr’s and Hospital this time of year has me pounding echinacea that’s for sure!!
Just for fun… ...if you could take a vacation anywhere in the world, where would you go? What is it that draws you towards that place? I’d love to go to Rome because I would love to see all the art I have only been able to see in books. Plus all the old buildings.
What does your morning routine look like? We believe that having a great morning routine in place can set you up for a productive day ahead. For me, it starts with a cup of fresh coffee and some yoga to wake us up. Then it’s all about finding a quiet space, lighting a candle and journalling. When it’s time to start work, we always being by clearing our inbox and checking the calendar to know what lies ahead of us for the day. What’s your morning routine look like?
Let’s talk about lupus for a sec... I have talked about it on my blog but I don’t like sharing about it too much. I have always had this mentality if people knew how much my lupus or diabetes was effecting me. But the truth is there hasn’t been a day I have felt “good” in the last 2 years. I have days where I feel better but most days it’s hard to get out of bed. It’s hard because I am so tired and it’s hard because it hurts. Then when I stand up I feel like throwing up and am so dizzy. See now that I wrote that I instantly cringe because I feel like I am complaining lol but it’s true and I want everyone to know no matter how perfect someone looks on instagram you don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes. This is an old photo for now until I return to the land of the living. I have not worn makeup since October because it hurts my arm to put it on... and I was not that motivated for makeup before that so I am ok with that. 🤣
Hello again old friends 😍😍. You may have noticed I took a little social media break for a while to recharge and refresh for 2020! ⠀ ⠀ Can’t wait to be catching up with you all!
Christmas tree 🎄 ✅. Now ready for some holiday weekend binge watching.

I love donuts and pastries just as much as the next girl, but those sugars and grains often lead to skin breakouts and unhealthy habits. ⠀ ⠀ I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had a sweet treat to end my workday, only to leave me feeling more groggy and tired than I did before. ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ Foods with high sugars can hurt your metabolism, making it harder to burn those calories during your morning yoga workout or kickboxing class. Since I want to make sure my time in the gym counts, I try to cut out grains and sugars as much as possible.⠀ ⠀ If you have a sweet tooth like me, you’re probably looking for some alternatives that satisfy your appetite without all of the carbs and sugars. Here are a few foods to stay away from and others you’ll want to add to your grocery shopping list. ⠀ ⠀ For some healthier options check out my link in profile!!⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ #slimlivingrevolution #onelovetea #doterraadvocate #fightingms #hipreplacementrecovery #diabeteseducation #strongerthanthis #pcosaa #crpssucks #healingpcosnaturally #chronicpainawarenessmonth #ibdlife #spoonieforlife #dontsuffer #theudo #preventionoverprescription #freshfruitandveg #organicchef #antiinflammatorydiet
My Anti-Inflammatory Diet has been my biggest lifesaver! Living with an auto-immune disease has made me somewhat of an expert on anti-inflammatory diets. But even if you do not have chronic inflammation eating more healthy can help you even if you just want to look better.⠀ ⠀ Growing up as a Type 1 diabetic, and having a chronic disease I have always had a lot of issues around food. I don’t just mean with how I digest and metabolize food, but also in my mindset around what foods I can and can’t eat.⠀ ⠀ I used to get really frustrated when my body felt tired or my brain felt foggy, but then I found a way to counteract some of my symptoms: following an anti-inflammatory diet.⠀ ⠀ None of my friends at the time had an anti-inflammatory diet, so I turned to Pinterest and food blogs to learn more. I even built up a collection of my own anti-inflammatory food recipes over time, like this one for anti-inflammatory turmeric oatmeal (my all-time favorite! ).⠀ ⠀ After developing an autoimmune disease, I have become even more careful about my food intake since it can affect my energy levels so much. It’s not uncommon for certain high sugar foods and grains to give me persistent migraines and stomachaches, which make it harder for me to focus and produce work at a high level.⠀ ⠀ While my body chemistry might be different from yours, there are still huge benefits to following an anti-inflammatory diet. I have heard so many success stories from other women who are improving their health with powerful natural anti-inflammatory diets so I know it’s worth it.⠀ ⠀ Check out my link in profile to learn more!!!⠀
